Got usual to CU Boulder, out of disorder, deferred to Fall 2012 because there was not enough financial aid even with an EFC of 0000. Could I reapply to FAFSA this upcoming year and hope for a better financial aid package? Or is that not even possible? Will I be stuck with the same financial aid for next year? Could I also reapply for scholarships at CU Boulder?
If I be with you you correctly, you are not attending the school year of 2011-2012, right? Then you will have to perfect the FAFSA for the Fall of 2012,even if nothing changes. Any scholarships you received for the 2011 year will ordinarily not hold on to it for a year. Don’t lose hope, there are lots of scholarships out there. One of the best sites: Scholarships.com

Im filling out my FAFSA right now and when I read that if you dont have your parents info then you can go on to the next section by clicking “unable to give information”. My parents claim that they didnt have any money left after taxes but just came back from a week from Florida. While they were gone since i was at work I looked everywhere for their information, their social security, tax return, all I found was my dads OLD tax return from 2001 but I have his social security! : ) but I cant find my moms ss# and I dont have both of there current tax return. So must I just click unable to give information, which is quite right, plus I have a excellent reason too in which they dont want me to go to institution pretty much, not to mention I am gay too and they are very religious I guess they dont want me to meet any guys! : (

But I plot on going to the institution this Fall because I fot in its just I need the money to get there and stay

I do but have my W-2 from the 2 jobs that Ive worked at last year. When it comes till January 2012 Im going to send them to my grandmother sense she does taxes and I can file them and can say that I filed my taxes on FAFSA for next year! : )

But must I just might as well say that my parents wont give me information which they really wont, or must I just try to fill out how much I can in the parent section and then try to get the whole package like the loans grants scholarships and money for housing?

Its just im worried to click on the unable to give the information, because they might not give me alot of money and I wont able to afford housing for Winter and Jump split up! : (

I dont know what to do! : ( Must I just answer to the women that sent me the message from the institution first and tell her what happen and question her what I must do? or must I just answer the question for the FAFSA myself?

I told most of my friends the report on what happened and they are kind of glad that they arent in that situation, but most of them told me to go out of disorder to my institution I got into, they told me it will be challenging but better off where I am right now!

I reckon it must be ok if u place unable to place info. Heres what must happen: you turn in your fafsa, the school receives it, if there are anything that the financial aid office at your institution, they will send by e-mail you, and have you come down and speak to your FA advisor. Then you can clarify your situation to him or her. They must have lots of resources to help you from grants, loans, work study, scholarships. My bet that your worst scenario is that you get lots of loans instead of grants. but thats the worst scenario. but you must have enough to cover everything. If you go out of disorder you pay out of disorder tuition. I reckon for now just end it the best you can and then right it if you get any new info.
If your parents really refuse to give you their financial information to help you perfect your FAFSA, you can perfect the FAFSA lacking their information.

What will happen is that you will need to request an override from the school. Submit a letter from both you and a parent stating these facts.

The only aid you would be eligible for in this situation is to receive ONLY unsubsidized loans – no grants, no subsidized loans. You would get all the loan money you are eligible for – $ 5500 for a first year student – it would just be all in unsubsidized loans.

I questioned a question on this section because im gay! : )

Are you still living under your parent’s roof? Can they claim you as a dependent? If they can’t, you can place yourself as an independent student & don’t need your parents info.

If your parents don’t want to give you the info, do what they say on FAFSA. You’ll still get $ $ . Don’t try to fill out your folks’ info, because if you over estimate, you’ll get LESS $ $ for school. Use your W-2s & go from there. Get your education, kid!

Excellent Luck

I know you all don’t know for sure but if anyone has any sort of thought that would be so wonderful. I’m stressing about institution funds, I am going to be a freshman in institution in fall 2012. I am an only child and my dad makes 80-100k. I’m not sure because he doesn’t tell us but my mom said he makes somewhere between there. But my mom doesn’t work and has been in institution for the past two years herself studying for nursing which has full away a lot of money. Considering these factors do you reckon I could possibly be awarded some FAFSA money?
Thanks in development and please I’m just looking for serious answers. If you don’t know that’s fine, just looking to see if I have a chance.
Oh also we are a minority if that matters at all.. I know some scholarships are awarded to minorities sometimes but idk if that happens with the FAFSA as well
Oh I did not know that. He’s always saying that we don’t have enough money but my mom says we have a excellent quantity :/ That’s why I’m asking because I feel like we won’t get very much federal aid… thanks everyone for your answers, I’ll pick a best one tomorrow since I’m bone idle ahah
I recommend you use the FAFSA4Caster to get an estimate of the quantity and kind (grant, loans) of Federal financial aid you may be offered:

https://fafsa.ed.gov/FAFSA/app/f4cForm?execution=e1s1

Please be sure to hold conversations with a high school guidance counselor to learn the ins and outs of higher education financial aid. Since your parents’ annual income may not qualify you for Federal grant funds, you may only be eligible for loans. Be sure to question a guidance counselor about higher education loans.

Also, if you are considering a for-profit/career/proprietary institution or an online-only institution, you may only be offered loans, which can accrue high interest and prove hard to repay. Be sure to learn about community institution, disorder universities in your disorder, and private/independent colleges/universities that will fit your literary needs and interests.

Note: Often private/independent colleges/universities, even though their tuitions are higher than those of the disorder universities in your disorder, often provider better financial aid to their students – grants and scholarships from their own funds. Scholarships will be merit-based (high GPA in high school.)

Once you have determined the schools to which you want to apply (or if you have already chosen and applied to schools), be sure to hold telephone conversations with the financial aid counselors at those schools to learn about your financial aid options at each campus.

You can also look for scholarships for which you may qualify/to which you may wish to apply by using what I reckon is the best, most reliable list: Scholarship Search offered by the well-respected Institution Board:

I’m not sure if you would be eligible for the FAFSA, but it would be a excellent thought to go ahead and apply. There may be some consideration for your mother being in institution.

You need to talk to your high school counselor and the financial aid adviser of the institution you wish to apply to. They have a list of scholarships you may be eligible for. I am sure there are some scholarships for minorities as well. You will probably have to write an essay for each one. You can write a main essay about yourself. Include information about your achievements, clubs, extracurricular activities, volunteering, and struggles you have gone through to get to where you are today.

Why don’t you find out?
Google: Esitmated Family Role calculator

http://www.finaid.org/calculators/finaidestimate.phtml

It will tell you how much you could get in student loans.
You wont get any need based grants – free money.

In your institution applicatons you will place you are a minority.
Different schools place forward different discounts (if any).
I’ve heard that 6% of your parents income is considered for institution.
Any savings in your name – 25% will be considered each year.
Any savings in your parents name will reduce the quantity you will get in loans.

I reckon your dad makes too much money. FASFA looks at net income, not how the family spends the money.

You will not get any grants, but you can get loans.
